Events in Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is a university town surrounded by some of the best-known wine farms in the country, so weddings, launches and corporate functions here usually mean vineyard terraces, cellars and oak-lined lawns. Students at the university add graduations, society dinners and birthday parties, while Technopark and Die Boord host company events and conferences. Rain from May to August makes a roof or flooring important, and the summer south-easter calls for wind-rated tents. Venues often set strict rules on noise, caterers and access, and some limit guest numbers. Planners and hire companies are based in Stellenbosch, Techno Park and Somerset West and deliver to farms from Jonkershoek to Franschhoek.
Typical mobile toilet hire requests in the area come from:
- Weddings and traditional ceremonies: VIP flushing units or a luxury trailer placed near the tent but out of sight of the photos
- Corporate functions and year-end parties: VIP units with an attendant for an outdoor launch, team building day or year-end function
- Conferences, launches and expos: extra units for an expo or an outdoor exhibition where the venue's toilets are too few
- Festivals, markets and sports days: blocks of cabins serviced daily with wheelchair access and lit paths for a multi-day event
- Birthdays and private parties: a few cabins for a large garden or farm party where the house toilets cannot cope
- Funerals, church and cultural gatherings: several standard cabins and urinals for funerals, unveilings and church gatherings on open ground
- School events and matric dances: extra units for a sports day or fun day with hundreds of children and parents
