Events in Bloemfontein
Bloemfontein is the judicial capital and the Free State's main events city, with a busy mix of government, university and school life. The city's hotels, conference venues and the Free State Stadium area host workshops, congresses and sporting events, while the university and the well-known schools hold graduations, matric dances and prize-givings. Couples choose garden venues, guesthouses and farm venues around Brandwag, Bainsvlei and the outskirts. In Mangaung, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu, families hold funerals, unveilings and traditional weddings with large crowds in yards and halls. Highveld summers bring heat and sharp storms, and winters are cold and dry. Planners and hire companies are based in the city and its industrial areas.
Typical mobile toilet hire requests in the area come from:
- Corporate functions and year-end parties: VIP units with an attendant for an outdoor launch, team building day or year-end function
- Weddings and traditional ceremonies: VIP flushing units or a luxury trailer placed near the tent but out of sight of the photos
- School events and matric dances: extra units for a sports day or fun day with hundreds of children and parents
- Funerals, church and cultural gatherings: several standard cabins and urinals for funerals, unveilings and church gatherings on open ground
- Conferences, launches and expos: extra units for an expo or an outdoor exhibition where the venue's toilets are too few
- Birthdays and private parties: a few cabins for a large garden or farm party where the house toilets cannot cope
- Festivals, markets and sports days: blocks of cabins serviced daily with wheelchair access and lit paths for a multi-day event
- Kids' parties and baby showers: child-friendly access and hand-wash basins for a big party in a park or on a farm
